‘We’re in a good place’: Carrick says Manchester United stronger after summer transfer business | OneFootball

Michael Carrick is confident Manchester United have emerged from the summer transfer window stronger as a group.

Manchester United spent £163m on new signings during the summer window, with a focus on a midfield rebuild at Old Trafford.

Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba all arrived as engine room options, while veteran goalkeeper Karl Darlow completed the senior signings.

Midfield was the area of focus for the Red Devils, following Casemiro's exit and Manuel Ugarte's injury. The trio of new signings all arrive with priorPremier League experience.

Carrick said the club are delighted with their summer business and is confident he has a squad that can have success this season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Everton this weekend, Carrick said: "We went into the window wanting to come out stronger from the group, we had last season and we have definitely added to that, a lot of good work in that respect and the situation is what it is in terms of finances and what we can work with.

"Certainly the players we have brought into the group absolutely delighted with, think we have done some really good business.

"You can always look at it and think there are other things we could have done or might have done, but some things become available.

"Largely, I think we are in a good place with the squad, we have players that are flexible throughout the team can play in different positions as and when needed.

"I hope everyone stays fit and available, we are not just putting a squad together for one game on Sunday, we need a squad for the whole season and to have them options.

"Sometimes to change during a game, or game to game. There is a balance there and we need to get it right - the feeling we have on different partnerships and combinations we can rely on.

"Injuries and suspensions may come and we have to get through that. As it stands, we have got a really strong group."
