James Morrison faces a right-back dilemma before facing QPR after Nolan Galves injured his knee in the 1-0 win at Derby.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 23-year-old summer signing replaced Brayann Pereira after the debutant was sent off on 34 minutes. He was then hurt early in the second half in a challenge with Rams winger Mo Fuseini and was helped off by two members of staff.
Morrison later said the injury did not look good, with the club awaiting a precise diagnosis. Galves will miss Saturday's QPR match, leaving a selection call at right-back as Albion chase three wins and look to stay top of the Championship.
Callum Styles, a left-back, filled in after Galves went off and could do so again. Morrison is also considering Chris Mepham or Nat Phillips for a wider role, with third-choice Alex Williams having joined Hibernian on loan last week.
Morrison said Pereira must deal with a nightmare start to his Albion career. The deadline-day signing from NEC Nijmegen was booked for a pull-back on the Rams winger, then lunged into a challenge on former Albion loanee Charlie Taylor.
The head coach added that Pereira is adapting from a different style at NEC, noting his physicality and defending but stressing he will need time to fit Albion’s methods. Albion forward Ollie Bostock has joined non-league Boston United on a four-month loan until January. The 19-year-old’s only appearance this season came as a substitute in last month’s Carabao Cup defeat at Newcastle.
