West Brom have signed French midfielder Rabby Nzingoula from Strasbourg on a three-year deal to strengthen their midfield before the new Championship season. The 20-year-old arrives for around £two million.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he is the seventh senior recruit of the summer, and with teenage defender Carter Pinnington the tally reaches eight.
A France youth international, Nzingoula is viewed as an energetic, all-action option, following Felix Horn Myhre’s addition to James Morrison’s squad last week.
He was in the final year of his Strasbourg contract, having progressed through their academy to the senior squad. Loans took him to Montpellier in Ligue 1 and Nurnberg in Germany’s second tier.
Nzingoula has 56 senior appearances, with 30 starts. He is of Congolese heritage and becomes Albion’s second French signing of the summer, after Nolan Galves arrived from Rodez in Ligue 1.
He joins Myhre, Ousmane Diakite, Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby among the natural senior midfield options.
“I’m really excited to get playing,” said Nzingoula. “From the games I have seen, it’s clear to see it’s a very good, physical and demanding division.”
The new arrival could make his Albion debut in Saturday afternoon’s Championship curtain-raiser at Norwich.
Albion are expected to remain in the market for a wide attacker, with the possibility of further support in forward areas.
