West Brom have rejected a bid from Championship rivals Derby County for midfielder Alex Mowatt, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The offer did not meet Albion's valuation. Derby and head coach John Eustace have long tracked the 31-year-old after a push last summer fell short.

It is anticipated the Rams will return with another bid as talks continue. Mowatt remains an important player for Baggies boss James Morrison, though he could depart in the final weeks of the window if Derby meet the asking price.

Albion have reinforced central midfield with Norwegian Felix Horn Myhre and this week's recruit, 20-year-old Frenchman Rabby Nzingoula. Ousmane Diakite is viewed as a key first team option, with Jayson Molumby also among Morrison’s choices.

The former Barnsley midfielder has made 170 appearances for Albion since 2021 and spent one season on loan at Middlesbrough. He has also served as vice-captain at The Hawthorns.

Derby finished eighth in the Championship last season, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.
