James Morrison says he will not treat Raul Jimenez’s injury as decisive until Sunday lunchtime, and hinted Wolves could be playing mind games.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto quickly ruled Jimenez out of the Black Country derby after the striker limped off in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat at Everton with a left knee problem. Jimenez had been due to play only the first half but sustained a contact injury 10 minutes before the interval.

It is understood the setback is genuine and his absence is expected, and he looked disconsolate leaving the Hill Dickinson Stadium pitch. Morrison, though, is treating it cautiously and was not surprised Jimenez featured, citing a congested schedule.

Former Albion loanee Adam Armstrong is set to lead the line for the hosts if Jimenez does miss out. Armstrong scored three goals in 16 appearances during a half-season at The Hawthorns in early 2025, and Morrison praised his attitude while stressing Albion must be ready for any frontline.

Captain George Campbell added that Albion will prioritise their own game and only consider individual threats once the teamsheet is confirmed.
