Sydie Peck's signature is being heavily courted at this moment in time
Sheffield United were one of the Championship's biggest underperformers last season, and Chris Wilder is already looking to change that in what appears to be a crucial summer transfer window at Bramall Lane.
The 58-year-old is currently preparing for his first full season back with the Blades in what is his third managerial stint in charge of his boyhood club, having replaced Ruben Selles last September.
It will also be United's third successive season in the Championship, which is now the longest period of time they have spent in the division for just short of 20 years.
With the division undergoing major changes in terms of how its 24 clubs can operate in the transfer market due to Squad Cost Rules and the expansion of the play-off format to now include six teams rather than four, many are looking at developments in this part of the Steel City with intrigue.
However, it is fair to say that the belief some may have had that a sustained bid for the play-offs in the upcoming year could be mounted has slightly dwindled following the sale of academy graduate, Andre Brooks, to Championship rivals, Norwich City.
The club's academy has received plenty of plaudits in recent times for the quality of players it has been able to produce and sell on for a major profit down the line, and that is expected to be the case this summer with the Blades not in receipt of parachute payments.
And, a fresh development on the future of Sydie Peck, who also falls into said category, has now dropped.

Peck, 21, has been an integral part of the Blades squad in recent times after being handed his senior breakthrough in late 2023 in the Premier League.
The England youth international has since gone on to earn plenty of admirers due to his performances at Championship level across the past two seasons, which came after the signing of a new four-year contract.
Despite a brief hamstring issue, the London native went on to feature in 40 of United's 46 Championship encounters, providing five goals and four assists while earning a nomination for the Championship's Young Player of the Season.
Last summer, the midfielder became a target for West Ham United, who are now a Championship club after being relegated from the Premier League, and links of a move to the London Stadium have failed to dissipate this summer.
However, a report from the Sheffield Star has now outlined that the Hammers face a threat from top-flight duo, Brentford and Nottingham Forest, for the playmaker.
Such developments have also come to light after the East London side's high-profile sale of Mateus Fernandes to bitter rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, in a deal worth £85m, which is Spurs' club-record deal and the biggest sale ever made by a Championship side.

At present, Wilder appears to be braced for a major reshuffle of United's midfield ahead of the beginning of the competitive season next month, with Peck continuing to attract interest while talk continues to swirl over a reunion with former Manchester City loanee, Kalvin Phillips.
Back in April, the Blades boss was asked about the immediate future of his academy graduate, responding: "I think it’s the same as it always will be. If we have to sell a player or two, we will do, as long as we don’t give them away. That’s my take on it. We have to raise money."
