Ipswich Town have made a bid of £14m for Sunderland's Wilson Isidor, as they look to beat West Ham to the signing of the striker.

Ipswich Town have made an offer of £14m for Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor as they look to beat West Ham and Hull to the signature of the striker.

The Haiti international has impressed for the Black Cats since he arrived from Zenit on an initial loan deal, with Isidor hitting double figures as Regis Le Bris’ side won promotion to the Premier League in the 2024/25 campaign.

However, whilst Sunderland enjoyed a fantastic return to the top flight, it was more difficult for Isidor, as Brian Brobbey arrived as the main man up top.

Therefore, most of his game time came from the bench, so there are doubts over his future going into the new season, even if Sunderland will be playing more games due to their involvement in Europe.

A host of clubs have been linked with the 25-year-old, including West Ham, as Nuno Espírito Santo looks to add more firepower to his squad as they try to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Yet, it appears they face a major battle to bring Isidor in, as Sun journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Ipswich are pressing ahead to try and sign the attacker.

He explains that they have lodged a bid in the region of £14m for Isidor, which is £2m more than Hull have offered for the player.

Interestingly, it’s said that West Ham could potentially put a bigger package on the table for Sunderland, although it will include add-ons that depend on the club winning promotion, whilst they will also face a battle to convince Isidor to drop to the Championship.

It was never going to be straightforward for West Ham to get Isidor, as he is a player with real talent, and he was always going to attract Premier League interest.

But, we know the project at West Ham, as well as the size of the club, so it’s by no means a certainty that he wouldn’t join the Irons.

From Nuno’s perspective, even after the 3-1 win over Portsmouth in the EFL Cup, he will be well aware that the club are lacking both numbers and quality in attack.

Of course, Jarrod Bowen is a brilliant player, and Taty Castellanos will also be huge if he remains at the club, but, aside from those two, there isn’t much else at the club, as Pablo has struggled since his arrival.

So, bringing in new recruits in the final third has to be a priority to deal with a demanding Championship season, but it’s not a case of signing anyone, as they need individuals that can deal with the pressure that will come with trying to take West Ham back to the Premier League.

Isidor ticks all the boxes when you consider his age, profile, and the fact he has won promotion from this level before.

Ipswich’s interest in Isidor is a problem for West Ham, as they can offer Premier League football, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out, and if Sunderland do let the ex-Monaco man depart, as he could still have a big role to play at the Stadium of Light with the additional games that they will play this season.
