West Ham make approach for next summer signing after completing £7m Manor Solomon transfer | OneFootball

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Manor Solomon from Tottenham, and are in talks with Arsenal for Reiss Nelson.

As revealed by the Hammers on Monday evening, Solomon has swapped north London for east London, signing an initial three-year contract, with the option for a further year.

Standard Sport understands the transfer is worth £5million up front, plus a further £2m in add-ons. Spurs have also reportedly added a 10 per cent sell-on clause into the deal.

Solomon will wear the No10 shirt at the London Stadium - vacant since Lucas Paqueta departed in the January transfer window - and the 27-year-old wants to help West Ham seal an immediate return to the Premier League.

He said: “I'm really happy to be here, happy to be a Hammer, and I can't wait to get started!

“I know West Ham United has a rich history both in the Premier League and in Europe. It's a club that won a European trophy just three years ago, and I think this is where the club should be, and I'm here to help the club and to be where it belongs.

“I've spoken both with the manager and with Nils. They showed me the project, what they want to build there. Of course, our first task is to get promoted, to go back to the Premier League. I really like all the ideas and everything they have presented for me.

“I'll try to give my all in the first season and then in the seasons ahead. I want to be here for a long time and I want to make the fans really happy.”

Solomon becomes West Ham’s third senior acquisition of the summer after Keiber Lamadrid and Joel Veltman, though moves have been made for a fourth arrival before the transfer window closes.

Standard Sport understands the Hammers have approached the Gunners to discuss the availability of Nelson as they look to strengthen their squad for a promotion push in the Championship.

While Arsenal have provided encouragement to West Ham and negotiations are ongoing between the clubs over the conditions of a potential deal, it remains to be seen whether Nelson would be open to dropping down to the Championship.
