West Ham suffered fresh injury problems before today’s FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds United, with several first-team players missing.
Nuno Espirito Santo was non-committal earlier in the week, saying Crysencio Summerville was being assessed day by day after a calf issue, and that a late decision would be taken. The winger has not played since the fifth round.
When the Hammers’ line-up was confirmed on Sunday afternoon, Summerville was absent and further senior names were also missing.
Jean-Clair Todibo, injured in the warm-up before the recent defeat at Aston Villa, again failed to make the squad. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who sustained a head injury with Greece, also missed out.
Those setbacks led to Max Kilman being handed a first start since mid-February. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was another surprise omission, with Kyle Walker-Peters starting at right-back.
"We had players that were not available, players that were still recovering, but we are positive in this moment of the season, all players are important," he told TNT Sports.
