Feyenoord star Quinten Timber is a West Ham United midfield target for the ongoing winter transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
However, West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo and the Hammers now have to look elsewhere in their bid to strengthen a key department at the London Stadium club.
Timber is set to snub them and join Olympique Marseille following a verbal agreement, according to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
It appears West Ham are among the clubs that had been hoping to snap up the Dutchman over the weekend, but they have lost the race.
Timber was not in the Feyenoord starting XI that lost 4-3 to Sparta Rotterdam yesterday and has played his last game for the Eredivisie club from the look of things.
He would have been a solid signing for West Ham, but he is off to France and the Hammers will now move on to plan B.
They secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday to pick up their fourth Premier League win of 2025-26.
The Hammers are back in action this weekend when they host Sunderland and could do with new additions before the match.
They have signed striking duo Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe, and while Callum Wilson had been expected to leave as a result, he is now set to stay at the club beyond this window.
He grabbed the late winner against Spurs and could prove crucial as West Ham look to escape relegation this season.
The Hammers are five points off safety after 22 games and will be desperate to pick up much-needed points going forward.
The onus is on Nuno to get his team firing on all cylinders, and the game against the impressive Black Cats would be huge.
