Blackburn Rovers supporters chanted 'Venky's out' before the game at Ewood Park with the owners in attendance.

Blackburn Rovers ended a run of four Championship games without a win to claim a much-needed 3-1 victory over Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

A Dapo Afolayan brace and a late Andri Gudjohnsen goal were enough to grasp all three points, and the result relieved some of the early pressure that had been building at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray's side are now up to 15th with eight points from their first seven, but know they must now build on the result with winnable games against Portsmouth and Cardiff City on the horizon.

While Blackburn's win grabbed some of the headlines, there were some intriguing chants at Ewood Park that sum up feelings towards the Venky's, who were in attendance for the first time in 13 years.

When the Venky's bought Blackburn in November 2010, the club were an established Premier League outfit, playing their 11th consecutive season in the top flight.

The club finished that campaign in a respectable 10th position, but everything unravelled rather quickly, and Blackburn were relegated the following term, finishing 19th.

One of the major concerns during the Venky's early tenure was that they did not understand how to run a football club, and with the business in India, communication and decision-making were reportedly slow and poor.

It has now been almost 16 years, and the feeling at Ewood Park is now one of resentment, as evident at the ground when Millwall came to town on Saturday afternoon.

The Irish News reported that the game had not even kicked off before the first 'Venky's out' chants could be heard, and while the 3-1 win would have been a welcome distraction, it does not take away from the concerning situation at the club.

While Rovers supporters clearly want the Venky's out of their football club, there are no current developments suggesting that could happen anytime soon.

The Venky's are still putting money into Blackburn, but it is not at the level fans feel is adequate for the club to be successful and challenge towards the top of the Championship table.

Over the summer, the Lancashire club brought in four players, paying fees for three of them, with Gady Beyuku, Moussa Baradji and Jayden Fevrier arriving for a relative pittance.

Of course, Rovers would need a viable buyer to replace the Venkys, and they would not only be inheriting a struggling football club but one with net assets of -129million, according to Companies House-derived figures.

As Sheffield Wednesday are experiencing, there is life after unwanted owners, but Blackburn will want to avoid the turmoil that the Owls suffered to get to where they are today.
