Cameron Burgess apologised to Swansea City fans on social media after scoring two own goals in a 4-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.
Swansea City defender Cameron Burgess addressed supporters on social media after his two own goals in a 4-1 defeat to former club Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Welsh side signed Burgess from the Tractor Boys in the summer, and has been a stalwart in Alan Sheehan's defence since his arrival, but the visit of his former employers would prove to be a nightmare.
The Swans were swept aside by Kieran McKenna's side, with goals from Jack Clarke, Ivan Azon, and two in his own net from Burgess quickly deeming Goncalo Franco's second-half equaliser meaningless.
The demoralising defeat has left Swansea sat 18th in the Championship, with fans furious at how quickly their side crumbled after giving themselves a way back into the game.
After the poor performance, the Australian international defender took to social media to apologise to Swansea supporters for his part to play in the defeat, saying he will make 'no excuses'.

It's not often you see the same player hit the back of their own net twice in one game. The only notable example of this in recent years was Wout Faes' disastrous double against Liverpool a few seasons back.
Unfortunately, Burgess would become the latest player to achieve this unwanted feat, as he applied the finishing touches to two Ipswich attacks in what was a painful afternoon at the hands of his former club.
Both goals were hugely unlucky, as the defender attempted to slide in to clear the ball, but instead his touch deflected the ball past his goalkeeper, Lawrence Vigouroux, who was left rather helpless by the late change of the ball's trajectory.
In the wake of the 4-1 defeat, Burgess took to X to apologise to Swansea supporters, sharing a message which said: "I don't usually say much on social media and I will probably take this post down soon, but just wanted to write a message to the Swansea City fans that want to hear it.
"I know how much this club means to you all and how much pride you take in being a part of it. As a player, I hear your criticism, and you won't hear any excuses from me.
"I am my own worst critic, believe me, and it's my sole purpose to put things right on the pitch personally by showing what you all expect to see."
The post has yet to been taken down as the Australian said he might do, but it has garnered over 400,000 impressions, and 2000 likes in it's short time on the platform.

The result on Saturday meant that Swansea have lost four of their last seven Championship matches, slipping to 18th in the table, seven points clear of 22nd place Sheffield United.
Whilst there is still a sizable buffer between them and the drop zone, there are still plenty of points to play for, which could see that overturned in a matter of games, if the Swans continue in the vein of form they're currently in.
With the Blades beginning to pick up points and Norwich City parting company with Liam Manning, you can't help but feel the Welsh club will be just glancing over their shoulder, especially with their recent run of form.
Many say that words without action are hollow, but supporters will hope that Burgess, and the rest of his team, back up the defender's statement with some strong performances, which will have them looking forward rather than backwards.
