Ahead of the Lionesses trip to Switzerland this summer for Euro 2025, we take a look at England women’s top all-time scorers with Ellen White still leading the list.
Even though she retired in 2022, White still holds a commanding position atop the England top scorers list with nobody else ever reaching the 50 goal mark.
See below for the top 10 scorers for the Lionesses:
1. Ellen White – 52 goals
2. Kelly Smith – 46 goals
3. Kerry Davis – 44 goals
=4. Karen Walker – 40 goals
=4. Fara Williams – 40 goals
=6. Beth Mead – 35 goals*
=6. Hope Powell – 35 goals
8. Eniola Aluko -33 goals
9. Karen Carney – 32 goals
10. Gillian Coultard – 30 goals

Ellen White made 113 appearances for the Lionesses during her international career and with 52 goals the lethal striker stands alone at the top of the goalscoring charts.
The forward played for England across 12 years and after the Lionesses were crowned Euro 2022 champions she decided to call time on her career, just a matter of days after reaching the half century mark for goals.
White surpassed Kelly Smith in 2021 after an emphatic 20-0 win over Latvia in the World Cup Qualifiers where she scored an unstoppable hattrick.
As well as holding the record for all-time top scorer, White is also England’s top scorer at the Women’s World Cup with seven goals which included a bronze boot-winning campaign in 2023 (bronze because three players were tied for first and White had fewest assists).
With 52 international goals, White is also third in England football’s top scorer list behind only the great Wayne Rooney and current Three Lions captain Harry Kane.
Although she stands alone at the top of England’s scoring charts, there is certainly hope for the future as current players hunt down the exclusive 50-goal club.
The top scorer currently still playing for the Lionesses is Beth Mead who is chasing goalscoring history at Euro 2025 this summer.
Mead currently has six goals at the Euros and is already the top scorer in England’s history at the tournament, but with four more this year she would become the all-time top scorer for the competition itself.
At 30-years-old Mead is already on 35 goals for her country, putting her just 17 behind White who retired at the age of 33.
Alessia Russo is a slightly younger player (26) who could still reach 50 goals for England, with 22 already from just 50 appearances.
White has been singing the praises of Russo ahead of Euro 2025 which should give the Arsenal striker and FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year plenty of confidence heading into her second tournament.
