Valencia said on Tuesday they had dismissed Miguel Ángel Angulo as Mestalla head coach and appointed Óscar Sánchez. Promoted from the Juvenil A, he steps up after two standout seasons in the División de Honor.
Sánchez played for Badajoz, Jaén and Valladolid. His coaching career includes Orihuela and roles in the Valencia academy.
With the Juvenil he won the league and delivered one of the best seasons in the side’s División de Honor history.
The team reached the Copa de Campeones final, losing to Real Betis, and came close to European competition.
His Valencia sides were dynamic and bold, building from deep and accelerating in the final third. Patterns included the right-back, Monferrer, stepping inside in build-up, Otorbi stretching the right flank, and versatile interiors combining.
After working daily with the group now moving into Mestalla and those to follow, Sánchez knows first-hand the players who must preserve the team’s divisional status and help build next season’s project.
