Wolves are closing in on a loan for 19-year-old Newcastle United forward Sean Neave, who is due a Compton medical before tonight’s 11pm deadline, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The teenager has two senior outings, both from the bench. He was an unused substitute at West Brom in the EFL Cup last week and has not been named in either Premier League squad so far this season.

Neave came through Wallsend Boys Club, a famed North East nursery. Alumni include Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick, plus current England midfielder Elliot Anderson.

After joining Newcastle’s academy, he became a regular scorer at youth level and signed his first professional deal in summer 2024. He called it a surreal moment and the fulfilment of a childhood dream.

He has represented England at under-16, under-18 and under-19 level, making his under-19 debut in March. He described his first cap as a proud moment and said he hoped to gain more England appearances the following season.

He featured in the EFL Trophy, scoring against League One Huddersfield Town. His senior debut came in the Champions League, replacing Harvey Barnes in the 87th minute of a 6-1 win at Qarabag in Azerbaijan, before a Premier League bow at Fulham on the final day. He was also an unused substitute when Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley to lift the EFL Cup.

He is now set to reunite with former Newcastle team-mate Kieran Trippier at Molineux. Trippier joined Wolves earlier this summer.
