As pressure was mounting on Lee Grant, Huddersfield Town have responded with back-to-back victories in League One.

Many Terriers supporters were questioning whether the former Derby County and Manchester United shot-stopper was the right man to try and deliver a promotion push in the third-tier, particularly after the club tasted three straight defeats to Stockport County, Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers.

But Grant's side have responded emphatically to the critics by securing precious victories over Plymouth Argyle and Mansfield Town, while netting six goals in the process.

Much optimism has been created heading into their midweek away trip to Luton Town, particularly after the Hatters were slammed 5-0 by Barnsley last weekend.

In the last couple of games, Huddersfield have been so much more potent in the final third, with forward Bojan Radulovic a massive helping hand in that department.

The Serbian frontman has had a resurgence at the Accu Stadium after a rocky start to life in blue and white, recording three goals and as many assists in just five league games this season.

Many Huddersfield supporters would have believed Radulovic’s career at Huddersfield was over after he was loaned out to Fortuna Sittard at the turn of 2025, but he is now making himself a nuisance in the third-tier.

With this in mind, FLW’s Huddersfield Town pundit has commented on the impact the 25-year-old has made and the reason for his upturn in form.

Huddersfield Town, Lee Grant changed outlined for Bojan Radulovic form

Speaking to Football League World, Huddersfield Town fan pundit Graeme Rayner admitted a difference in the schedule for Finland’s domestic league season with HJK Helsinki and a poor playing system under Michael Duff hindered Bojan Radulovic’s start to life with the Terriers.

Graeme said: “Bojan Radulovic has really turned things around.

“He arrived a couple of January's ago, and had just completed a season for Helsinki in Finland. Their season runs from April to October, while he was also involved in the early rounds of their European qualification in the Europa League too, so he hadn’t had much of a break when he arrived with us, and we were in the middle of a relegation battle in the Championship.

“He clearly had ability from what we saw at Helsinki, but he couldn’t cope with the physical demands of a relegation battle in the Championship. He just couldn’t deal with being bullied by those defenders.

“I think he scored one goal in 11 league games in that relegation run-in. He looked lightweight, but he hadn’t had any pre-season with us or any break from finishing in October. He couldn't have been involved in pre-season either, because the Finnish season doesn’t start until April, and he then came to us in the middle of January, so it was far from ideal.

“And then last season, the football we played just didn’t suit him. The type of football we were playing under Michael Duff last season certainly didn’t suit him, and so he soon got loaned out and went elsewhere to ply his trade.”

However, Graeme believes that Terriers boss Lee Grant’s decision to switch to a two-striker system has contributed to Radulovic’s upturn in form.

Graeme added: “This season, we’ve been forced to move to a 4-4-2. Lee Grant didn’t really want to play with two strikers, but needs must, he’s moved to a 4-4-2, and he’s been paired with Dion Charles, another striker who had a really bad run of things, but they both have seemed to adapted really well together, they’re linking well together. Radulovic, I believe, got an assist setting up Charles at the weekend.

“So, his change of form is down to a few things. He’s getting a run of form in the team and gaining confidence, but he’s also been able to now embrace the physical side of the game. He actually seems to be up for the battle, and he’s the only striker we have who can hold the ball up and link up play from the front so long may it continue.

“I wish him the best of luck, it’s really good to see him turn it around given a lot of people thought he would leave.”

It had been worrying times in recent weeks for all connected with Huddersfield Town, but it now appears they are getting back on track with those back-to-back victories.

Admittedly, it’s two wins over teams that they are expected to come out on top against when looking at the league table and personnel, but after slipping up in many games so far this season, it’s positive to see a change in their fortunes.

It now sees Huddersfield within two points of the play-offs and just three away from an automatic promotion spot, and with the goals now flowing at the top end of the pitch, the next few weeks could see the Terriers reestablish themselves in the conversation for immediate promotion back to the Championship.

Optimism has been sparked by the form of Bojan Radulovic too, who, as our Huddersfield fan pundit alluded to, can hold the ball up effectively and bring others into play, while having the presence of mind to be clinical when he gets into shooting positions.

His immediate impact in League One could prove that he is a Championship player in waiting, while Huddersfield will welcome an added source of goals to push themselves up the table.

His partnership with Dion Charles has started off in fruitful fashion, and this tweak could be what Lee Grant needs to keep the supporters onside and prove to the hierarchy that he is the right man to deliver success in Yorkshire this campaign.
