Raheem Sterling declined an approach from Bayern Munich to sign him this summer, opting to stay in London for his family, according to The Athletic.

The 30-year-old English winger, who was bought by Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for £45 million plus £10 million in bonuses, has not been part of Enzo Maresca’s plans since the summer of 2024. Sterling was loaned to Arsenal, but saw limited playing time.

Several European clubs expressed interest in him this summer, but Sterling turned down all offers, determined to remain in London. Bayern Munich made one final push at the end of August, but Sterling refused, citing a lack of guarantees over playing time and the need to move his family to Germany.
