Chelsea are set for a busy summer under new boss Xabi Alonso, and they can’t afford to get the recruitment wrong.

The Blues missed out on European football all together with a tenth placed finish, which has made their work this summer that bit harder.

Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali links wide of the mark

Chelsea are said to be in the market for a centre back, whilst they are also thought to want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Alonso will reportedly have a say in transfers, whilst co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the recruitment model will be tweaked this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly open to targeting players with proven Premier League experience as they look to improve the squad.

The Blues have been linked with Morgan Rogers, and with doubts over the future of Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea were linked with both Guimaraes and Tonali.

However, Jacobs took to X.com and provided an update:

“Also understand links between Chelsea and Newcastle pair Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães are wide of the mark.”

Guimaraes would be a brilliant potential replacement for Fernandez if he leaves, and the Brazil international finished the season with nine goals and eight assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.
