The former England full-back's future remains up for debate at this moment in time
Sheffield United have endured a campaign of inconsistency in the Championship this time around, and plenty of changes are set to be made at Bramall Lane as a result.
This time last year, United came agonisingly close to sealing an immediate return to the Premier League with Chris Wilder in the hotseat, before promotion was snatched away from their grasp in the final minute of the Championship play-off final versus Sunderland at Wembley Stadium.
Ruben Selles' subsequent appointment and six-game tenure proved to be nothing short of disastrous, leaving Wilder to return to his boyhood club for a third time, although they are set for a mid-table finish rather than a hunt towards the play-off and promotion places.
The 58-year-old will hope a similar finish in the table isn't the case next season, though, as he has already confirmed that a rebuilding process within the squad is underway, with the likes of midfielder, Tom Davies, already seeing his pending exit from the club announced, whilst exit talk continues to surround the likes of Gus Hamer and Tyrese Campbell.
As such, a handful of incomings are likely to also be made by the experienced boss, and that could include former Blades academy graduate and England international defender, Kyle Walker, potentially returning to Bramall Lane.
With the transfer window opening in a matter of weeks as the Steel City club and Walker's current employers, Burnley, prepare for life in the Championship next season, Football League World have looked into what we know so far about a potential deal involving the 35-year-old.

Indeed, talk of a reunion between the Blades and the Sheffield-born full-back has emerged through local publication, the Star.
It has been claimed that Walker has emerged as a potential target for Wilder, who will look to reshuffle his defensive department as part of the aforementioned squad rebuild, with such news also coming amid major developments at Turf Moor.
Indeed, Walker's current employers are in a state of uncertainty, with Scott Parker leaving the club following intense exit talk after they were relegated following a 1-0 defeat against the defender's former side, Manchester City, on April 22nd.
However, the aforementioned report does state that it remains unclear at this moment in time whether an official approach from his hometown club has been made towards the 96-cap Three Lions international.
Walker previously made a handful of appearances for the Blades in the 2008/09 season before his move to Tottenham Hotspur in a joint-deal with Kyle Naughton, with the last of those coming in the play-off final defeat to Burnley at Wembley Stadium.

Despite going on to win several trophies, including six Premier Leagues and a UEFA Champions League with Manchester City later in his career, Walker recently admitted to Gary Neville on 'The Overlap' that a dream scenario of his would be a return to Bramall Lane.
Ironically, this also led to the defender being unsure whether the Blades would feel reciprocal over said deal, with such quotes coming before the aforementioned resurfacing of links.
"It’s always been a dream of mine to play for Sheffield United again," Walker stated.
“To start there at six and finish 19, when I went to Tottenham. “I hope so [to go back again].
“I don’t know when that will be. I don’t know if they will want me.”

In truth, Walker's first season with Burnley after signing a two-year contract with the North West side has hardly gone to plan, despite the fact he has captained the side on several occasions and started over 30 Premier League games.
The experienced figure was also one of the first to face the media after relegation was confirmed, and given his reputation, he faced questions over his own future with the Clarets ahead of the final year of his contract.
According to Capology, a site which ESTIMATES player earnings, Walker is by far the highest earner at Turf Moor with a £75,000 weekly wage, and when asked about the potential of staying at the club in the Championship, he responded: “Of course. I’ve got a contract here and I’m going to honour my contract.
“As you say, football is a weird thing, 12 months ago I was in the other dressing room and look where I am now.
“But that’s football, and you take it and you move on with it," he stated.
“As long as I’m kicking a football, I’m happy, so I’d like to be here, but we’ll see what happens.”
