Will Mbappé start against Real Sociedad? Arbeloa provides the answer
Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed Kylian Mbappe is ready to face Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday.
Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is available for Saturday’s La Liga match against Real Sociedad.
Mbappe returned to full training on Friday after missing two session due to knee pain. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arbeloa said the forward trained well with the group and is ready for selection.
Real Madrid can move two points clear at the top of La Liga with win at the Santiago Bernabeu as Barcelona are busy with the Copa del Rey. Barcelona suffered 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in first leg of the semi-final.
Arbeloa warned his players not to underestimate Real Sociedad. He pointed out that the Basque side have not lost since the arrival of their new coach and recently beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.
The Madrid coach stressed that Sociedad are strong team with clear ideas and said Real Madrid must play at their highest level to secure the three points.
Photos of Real Madrid players having dinner together outside the club recently circulated, with the aim of building team spirit.
Arbeloa asked about a past comment from Cristiano Ronaldo who once said players do not need group dinners to improve chemistry.
Arbeloa said he enjoys seeing the players united and happy after hard training sessions. He added that he missed such moments during his playing days and recalled that Ronaldo often joined these gatherings.
Arbeloa also responded to reports about captain Dani Carvajal being unhappy after returning from injury and not starting matches.
He said he treats Carvajal like any other player and keeps open communication with the squad.
Arbeloa explained that it is normal for players to feel frustrated when they do not play but insisted that team unity must always come before individual concerns.
