Manuel Neuer is set to make his comeback at FC Bayern and coach Vincent Kompany has given an update ahead of the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach

Everything points to the return of Manuel Neuer at FC Bayern and the Munich captain could be back between the posts for the Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach

Coach Vincent Kompany gave a brief but clear update on the goalkeeper’s situation at the pre-match press conference: „Manu is fit.“

This seems to clear the way for the 39-year-old’s comeback. Neuer suffered a torn muscle fibre in his left calf during the 3-0 away win in Bremen around three weeks ago. Since then, the 2014 World Cup winner has missed several games for the record champions

In recent days, however, there had already been signs that the goalkeeper was on the verge of a return, with Neuer recently completing parts of the team training sessions at Säbener Straße again

Bayern did not want to take any risks

Even before the Bundesliga classic against Borussia Dortmund, Neuer had tried to get fit in time, but those responsible decided against playing him in order to avoid taking any unnecessary risks

Instead of a hasty return, the Bayern captain was given extra time to fully recover and now the goalkeeper appears to be fully fit again

If nothing unforeseen happens in the final training session, Neuer should be back in goal for FC Bayern against Borussia Mönchengladbach. His return would be an important factor for Munich in the decisive phase of the season

Meanwhile, Munich will be without top goalscorer Harry Kane against Gladbach. Kompany announced that Kane suffered a blow to his calf in training and will therefore not be in the squad against Gladbach.
