At FC Bayern, a homegrown player is getting a big opportunity. This winter, the club and the player plan to take stock—and another loan could be on the table.

Arijon Ibrahimovic has, for now, earned a spot on FC Bayern’s first-team roster. The 20-year-old is expected to remain in Munich after his return from 1. FC Heidenheim and get his chance under Vincent Kompany. However, a long-term decision regarding his future has not yet been made.

According to information from FCBinside, Bayern and the player’s camp intend to closely monitor the situation in the coming months. The key factors will be how much playing time Ibrahimovic actually receives and what prospects emerge for him over the course of the first half of the season.

Club officials are very satisfied with his progress so far. An interesting opportunity could arise for the forward, especially at the start of the season. Numerous Bayern stars spent a long time playing in the World Cup this summer and consequently joined preseason training late. Ibrahimovic could use this head start to establish himself early on for further playing time.

Bayern wants to give Ibrahimovic playing time

That said, the right-footed player is by no means viewed solely as an alternative to Luis Diaz on the left side. Ibrahimovic could, in principle, play in any of the four attacking positions. In Saturday’s Telekom Cup match against RB Leipzig, for example, he played as Harry Kane’s replacement in the center of the attack. His versatility should help him secure regular playing time.

Ultimately, this is exactly what will determine the Nuremberg native’s future. If it becomes apparent during the first half of the season that his playing time is insufficient for his further development, another loan could be considered in the winter, according to information from FCBinside . At the same time, another contract extension with FC Bayern is also on the table.

Ibrahimovic is currently under contract with the record champions through the summer of 2028. The Munich club extended his contract just at the beginning of July. Prior to that, the 20-year-old had spent the 2025–26 season on loan at 1. FC Heidenheim.

A quick departure this summer, however, is not currently on the table. Instead, Ibrahimovic is first to be given the opportunity to prove himself in the Bayern squad. In the winter, both sides will then assess whether the current arrangement remains the best path for his development.

It was already clear during preseason that Kompany thinks highly of Ibrahimovic. The Bayern coach worked one-on-one with the talented forward , including special drills focused on finishing.

Ibrahimovic himself has also recently made it clear that he wants to make the most of his opportunity in Munich. “I want to get as many minutes on the field as possible—whether in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup, or the Champions League. And I want to win as many titles as possible with FC Bayern,” he explained on the club’s official website.

The coming months will now show whether this plan works out. For now, Ibrahimovic is getting his chance at FC Bayern. The next important decision regarding his future will come this winter.
