The Belgian championship is widely recognized as a prime showcase for African footballers.
During the most recent winter transfer window, five new players have bolstered the growing African contingent in the Jupiler League.
The Senegalese striker joined Gent for a fee of €1 million, arriving from Norwegian side Lillestrøm. Before making the move to Belgium, the 21-year-old featured in three Norwegian Cup matches, scoring once and providing a single assist.
The Senegalese centre-back left Norwegian club Lyn to sign for Union Saint-Gilloise. A product of the Diambars academy, Massiré Sylla has also had a stint in France with Pau FC.
Zulte Waregem spent €200,000 to secure the services of the former FC Metz winger. Before his arrival in Belgium, Malick Mbaye played seven matches with "Les Grenats," notching a single assist.
The Cameroonian forward joined Standard Liège on a free transfer after parting ways with OGC Nice. In 13 appearances so far this season, he is yet to find the back of the net.
The former Espoirs de Guédiawaye defender is set for his first European adventure with Zulte Waregem. At just 18 years old, Mouhamadou Sall will look to continue his development and further his football education in Belgium.
