Nick Woltemade is in a difficult sporting phase with Newcastle United. The Magpies have been waiting weeks for a taste of success, and the German international striker is also lagging behind his strong early form from the autumn. The 23-year-old has been waiting for a goal since December. But while there is already speculation in England about a possible sale, a lightning departure to FC Bayern does not seem to be an issue for Woltemade himself at the moment
As BILD reporter Julian Agardi reports in the „Bayern Insider“ podcast, „Nick Woltemade is currently not wasting any thought at all on what could happen after the summer“. The attacker’s focus is clearly on the sporting situation in Newcastle – and, in perspective, on the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Everything else is currently of secondary importance

Nevertheless, the link to the German record champions has not been broken. FC Bayern had already made intensive efforts to sign Woltemade last summer. The striker is said to have given the Munich club an early transfer promise before Newcastle intervened with a transfer fee of around 80 million euros
According to Agardi, this is by no means the end of the matter. „If someone like Woltemade is as committed to FC Bayern as he was last summer, then the issue is certainly not off the table for him,“ the transfer expert clarifies. The appreciation for Munich is still there and „has certainly not evaporated within a year“
At the same time, there have so far been no concrete signs of a new attempt in the summer. Although the Football Insider portal recently reported that Newcastle could consider a sale and FCB consider a transfer fee of between 35 and 45 million euros to be reasonable, from the player’s point of view, the focus is currently exclusively on his sporting development
Nevertheless, the personnel issue remains exciting, also from Bayern’s point of view. With the loan of Nicolas Jackson, a temporary solution was chosen last summer. A permanent future beyond this season is considered unlikely. This means that a place could soon become vacant again in the forward line
Whether Woltemade then becomes a serious candidate again depends on several factors – his form, Newcastle’s asking price and the strategic considerations at Säbener Straße. One thing is clear: the chapter is not closed, but it is currently on ice.
