Wolves are among a host clubs who are tracking Arsenal's Max Dowman, with the Premier League champions considering a January loan for their wonderkid.

Wolves have been told to do all they can to bring Max Dowman to the club after they were linked with a loan move for the Arsenal youngster in January.

The 16-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents in world football for his age, and he has already made 15 appearances for the Gunners, and he has produced some excellent moments in that period, including scoring a crucial goal against Everton last season as Mikel Arteta’s side went on to win the league.

Even though Dowman remains in the first-team picture at Arsenal, he is understandably down the pecking order, with England internationals Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze among those available to the Londoners.

Therefore, whilst Arsenal will manage the teenager carefully, it has been reported that Dowman could leave on loan in January.

They state that Arteta has already told Dowman that first-team football will be hard to come by in the second half of the campaign, when the Gunners will be hoping to win some of the biggest prizes in the game.

So, a loan move could be on the cards, and it is claimed that a dozen clubs would be interested in Dowman, including Wolves, Norwich, Celtic, Rangers and Coventry.

Obviously, Arsenal would prioritise first-team football for the player, and they would want to be sure that he went to the right environment to allow him to flourish.

On the face of it, Wolves would appear to tick a lot of boxes for Dowman, as Cesar Peixoto’s side will expect to be pushing for promotion from the Championship this season.

As well as that, the style of play that the Portuguese coach is trying to implement could be suited to Dowman, and he could link up well with the likes of Andre, Fer Lopez and Mateus Mane.

So, when asked about the possibility of Dowman moving to Molineux, Wolves fan pundit Thomas Woodhall made it clear that he would love to see the England youth international join, although he did suggest that a player in that position may not be a priority due to Lopez’s form.

“Dowman is quality, he looks like a really talented young lad.

“I’m not convinced Arteta will loan him out, as he seems to have a part to play with Arsenal. He reminds me of when Phil Foden came through at Man City, and it might take him a bit of time to fully get his foot in the door.

“I don’t know if coming to the Championship will hinder him, but, yes, of course, any player of that talent you’d love to see at your club. If we were to get it done, it would be a statement of intent that we really want to get out of this league, and Dowman would do well.

“However, it’s his position that interests me. Would he play that much with Fer Lopez in the form he’s in? Would he be happy to be rotating?”

Right now, Wolves’ squad looks stacked, and, in truth, they don’t really need a new signing in terms of numbers, as Peixoto has two players for each position.

But, if a player like Dowman becomes available, you have to take the opportunity to sign him, as he really could make a huge difference to any team in the second tier.

The point about Lopez is a fair one, as whilst the Spaniard or Dowman could play wide, they would both ideally operate from a similar position.

Nevertheless, the prospect of the duo linking up would terrify the opposition, and it would make Wolves an even more formidable outfit at this level.

So, it’s one to monitor, but January is likely to be a case of trying to add one or two players of quality for Wolves, and if they did manage to secure Dowman, which seems unlikely, it would be a huge signing in the promotion battle.
