Wolves chairman Nathan Shi says redeveloping Molineux is in the plan, but investment in the first team and a push for promotion next season will take precedence.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, supporters have urged upgrades across the ground, particularly the Steve Bull stand. In December, predecessor Jeff Shi said a modernisation project was awaiting an offer, which has yet to materialise.
Speaking at the Wolves fans’ forum, Nathan Shi said he is in regular talks with the City Council, the University and external partners about a wider Molineux quarter in the city centre. He described the scheme as exciting and placed it in the club’s medium and long-term planning.
He added that discussions cover more than the stadium, with potential for a hotel and retail, aiming to contribute to a broader city upgrade. He said serious conversations have already taken place.
After a piece of metal fell from the South Bank and struck a fan earlier this month, and with the temporary Graham Hughes stand still in use, Shi accepted minor fixes should be addressed sooner. He said problems should be tackled early rather than allowed to grow.
Shi acknowledged the stadium needs upgrades, warning that delays can lead to further issues and rising maintenance costs. He said those works are being accounted for in the budget.
