Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has signed a new three-year contract, a move that signals stability for a club caught between transition and ambition. Pereira, who took charge in December 2024 with Wolves stranded in 19th place, managed to steer them to 16th by season’s end. It was a narrow escape, but one that highlighted his ability to organise and energise a struggling side.
Despite that survival act, Wolves have endured a nightmare start to the new campaign, sitting bottom of the Premier League after four successive defeats. The decision to back Pereira now feels less about immediate results and more about laying long-term foundations.
Chairman Jeff Shi offered strong support for his head coach:“Vitor has made a very positive impact during his time at Wolves. He’s brought clarity, energy and a team spirit that gives us a foundation to be successful.
“Now is a time for stability. Vitor needs time to work with the squad, to build a chemistry with new players, and we will do everything to support him and his staff.”
It is a public declaration of faith, and perhaps an attempt to calm the turbulence that has clouded Molineux since the summer.
That turbulence stemmed largely from high-profile exits. Matheus Cunha left for Manchester United in a £62.5m move, while Rayan Ait-Nouri joined Manchester City for £31m. Nelson Semedo also departed, heading to Fenerbahce. The sales stripped Pereira of core experience and forced Wolves to reset with five new signings.

Complicating matters further was speculation surrounding Norway striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose future dominated headlines just as Pereira tried to integrate fresh arrivals into his squad.
For Pereira, this contract extension is about more than job security. It is a statement of belief in a project that remains fragile but alive.“We will increase our level, with [the] ambition to make our supporters proud on the pitch,” he said. “I’m very proud to be Wolves head coach. It’s an honour for me. This is the moment that we need to be united.”
Unity may be the word Wolves fans cling to as the club enters another defining chapter. Pereira has stability on paper; the challenge now is to translate it into results on the pitch.
