According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have sacked head coach Rob Edwards and are set to appoint Cesar Peixoto as his replacement.

Edwards was informed over the phone on Thursday morning while abroad on holiday. It is understood the 43-year-old had been working on summer recruitment and did not expect the decision.

The club announced the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez this week. Edwards was heavily involved in Trippier’s deal, and the defender cited his passion as a reason for joining.

Wolves are moving for Peixoto, who currently manages Portuguese side Gil Vicente. He would arrive having only worked within the Portuguese league system.

Peixoto, 46, is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, which has close ties with Wolves owners Fosun.
