Wolves welcome Brighton to Molineux on Sunday in what has become a must-win fixture to kickstart their season.
Vítor Pereira’s side are bottom of the Premier League, winless in ten league games, and were denied a crucial victory in their last home match by a stoppage-time equaliser.
To get a result, they must overcome a dreadful recent record against the Seagulls. Wolves have lost their last four consecutive league meetings with Brighton at Molineux. Therefore, the primary objective for the under-pressure manager is to end that run and secure their first win of the season.
Vítor Pereira is facing a potential selection crisis in defence ahead of Sunday’s match. The manager has been dealt a double blow with the news that Matt Doherty is unavailable after undergoing wrist surgery, while captain Toti is a major doubt due to illness. There is also uncertainty in attack, with striker Jorgen Strand Larsen facing a late fitness test to determine his availability.
The absences are set to provide opportunities for others. Jackson Tchatchoua is in line to start at right-back in Doherty’s place. If Larsen is not passed fit, Hwang Hee-chan will likely form a new partnership with Iván Arias up front. In midfield, Pereira will rely on the established engine room partnership of Marshall Munetsi and João Gomes to control the game.
Wolves predicted XI: Johnstone; Tchatchoua, Krejčí, Santiago Bueno, Hugo Bueno; André, João Gomes, Munetsi; Arias, Hwang, Strand Larsen.
The Premier League fixture will be played at Molineux on Sunday, 5 October 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 2:00 pm BST.
