Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan, who was a target for Wolves, West Ham and Southampton, is now on the radar of Serie A outfit Genoa.

Genoa are the latest club to show an interest in Hibernian’s Josh Mulligan, with the midfielder having previously been on the radar of Wolves, West Ham and Southampton.

The 23-year-old joined the Edinburgh outfit in the summer of 2025, and he enjoyed a brilliant first season in the capital, impressing as Hibs secured European football.

Mulligan was key to David Gray’s side with his energy and drive in the middle of the park, as he established himself as arguably one of the better midfielders in the league.

Therefore, it’s perhaps no surprise that his performances have caught the eye of clubs heading into the summer transfer window, and it was claimed that relegated duo West Ham and Wolves are keeping tabs on Mulligan, along with Saints.

Yet, so far, no club appears to have made a concrete move for the ex-Dundee man, and that has allowed rival interest to emerge, as Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph revealed that Genoa are ‘considering’ an offer for the player.

“Genoa have expressed their interest in Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan. It’s understood the Serie A club are considering making an offer for the 23-year-old.”

Hibs are in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a fee for Mulligan, as the former Scotland U21 international is on a deal that runs until 2029 at Easter Road.

Mulligan has already featured regularly for Hibs this season, and it remains to be seen whether the club would sanction an exit until they have played their Europa Conference League qualifiers.

It’s easy to see why clubs are tracking Mulligan, as he is an exciting young player, and he has the sort of profile that could flourish in the Championship.

He is extremely energetic and covers the ground quickly, so he should be able to deal with the physical demands of the league with relative ease.

So, that would make him ideally suited to clubs like Saints and Wolves in particular, as they are both looking to play a high-pressing style this season under Tonda Eckert and Cesar Peixoto respectively.

Of course, there are areas that Mulligan can improve, which is inevitable given his age, but he is a player with a lot of potential.

If Genoa do firm up their interest with an offer, it could make it difficult for any Championship club to sign Mulligan, as he may see that as the ideal next step for his development.

There are a number of Scottish players who have benefited from moving to Serie A, and it’s obviously a big step-up for Mulligan.

With the window still open for over another three weeks, all clubs have a lot of business to do, and it wouldn’t be a major shock if there was a battle for Mulligan’s signature, and it will be intriguing to see where he does end up.
