Manchester United have been granted a potential boost if they decide to return for Antoine Semenyo next year.
The Red Devils held talks with Semenyo over the summer to gauge the feasibility of him swapping the Vitality Stadium for Old Trafford.
Tottenham Hotspur did the same, but both clubs ultimately saw their efforts rendered ineffective after the forward, hailed as ‘world-class’ by teammate Justin Kluivert, put pen to paper on a bumper five-year deal with Bournemouth.

In a transfer window that saw Andoni Iraola’s squad absolutely ransacked by some of Europe’s elite clubs, with Dean Huijsen signing for Real Madrid, Milos Kerkez moving to Liverpool and Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain, keeping hold of Semenyo was perhaps the best piece of business they could’ve done.
However, they mightn’t be able to do so for the duration of his new deal.
According to a fresh report from talkSPORT today, the 25-year-old Ghanaian’s new terms actually include a release clause, albeit the exact fee is being ‘kept under wraps’ by Cherries chiefs.
It’s thought that the Dorset club conceded that including a clause was the most reasonable way to get him to commit his future to them amidst interest from some of the division’s top dogs.
Whilst his suitors are still in the dark regarding the price tag, Bournemouth currently value him in the region of £75 million, so they can expect it’ll be around that kind of ballpark.
Semenyo has picked up where he left off with his scintillating form from last season, having already notched a remarkable six goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances.
From United’s point of view, a release clause will make any potential deal substantially easier – just look at how their negotiations for Matheus Cunha, who had one in his contract, differed in comparison to Bryan Mbeumo, for whom they had two bids rejected and had to endure weeks of back-and-forth talks.
