Wout Faes says he wants to remain at Monaco when his Leicester City loan ends this summer, with the deal including an option to buy.
“Of course [I want to stay]! The chance to come here was very welcome. Playing again, being reliable. I like it,” he told Get French Football News.
“I like the league. If I can stay, that would be great. Monaco are a big team and staying is clearly what I want. I am starting [games] and having an impact. It is important that I’m enjoying myself.”
Faes joined Leicester from Reims in 2022 for a reported £15 million, then endured six games as an unused substitute before being omitted from matchday squads ahead of his 13 January switch to Ligue 1. He has since started five league games for Monaco.
“I am playing at a great club in a great league. I think I am in the picture again. We will see what choice he makes. I know that they’re following me.”
He has made 135 appearances for Leicester and has one season left on his contract.
