The Red Dragons are lining up a secretive deal
Wrexham are preparing to make another statement in the transfer market, with the Championship side reportedly lining up a bold January move for a top European striker.
That’s according to Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon channel on Sunday morning.
The Red Dragons were the second tier’s biggest spenders in the summer and are now willing to flex their financial muscle once again as they push for further progress this season.

According to Nixon, Wrexham have made a “hush-hush” approach for a striker currently attracting interest elsewhere in Europe.
The Welsh club are said to be willing to match rival offers, with the proposed deal valued at around £14 million, including substantial promotion-related incentives.
Such a fee would shatter Wrexham’s transfer record. That mark was only set in the summer with the signing of Nathan Broadhead for £7.5 million, potentially rising to £10 million with add-ons.
That deal itself eclipsed previous records set earlier in 2025, following the £2 million January arrival of Sam Smith and significant summer fees for Liberato Cacace and Lewis O’Brien.
Wrexham’s spending has escalated dramatically under Hollywood ownership.
After breaching the £2 million mark for the first time in January 2025, the club went on to spend approximately £33 million during the 2025 summer window to assemble a squad capable of competing in the Championship.

The reported move is another indication of Wrexham’s intent to keep pushing forward.
After successive promotions to the second tier, the club currently sit within touching distance of the play-off positions and are prepared to aim high in pursuit of an unlikely third consecutive promotion - and a place in the Premier League.
It may also be a proactive step as Wrexham fend off external interest. Rangers have been linked with a potential loan move for Josh Windass amid speculation over a reunion with Danny Röhl, though that approach has already been rebuffed.
Head coach Phil Parkinson strengthened across the pitch in the summer and already has depth in attacking areas, but a marquee forward addition in January would underline the club’s continued upward trajectory.
Chief executive Michael Williamson has confirmed Parkinson will have funds available in the winter window, describing January as an “opportunistic” market while stressing the importance of signings who can impact immediately - and still fit Wrexham’s longer-term Premier League ambitions.
