According to Sky Sports News, Wrexham are weighing up a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, with Millwall and Wolves among the Championship clubs also keen. Wrexham are said to have been impressed by his loan form at Millwall and hope the £8-10m asking price can be negotiated.
Patterson is currently Sunderland’s third-choice goalkeeper and could depart this summer.
After helping the Black Cats win promotion from the Championship last year, he lost his starting place under Regis Le Bris to Robin Roefs following the latter’s arrival from NEC Nijmegen.
Short of minutes, the 26-year-old joined Millwall on loan in January, linking up with former Sunderland boss Alex Neil. He quickly became number one at The Den and helped Millwall reach the Championship play-off semi-finals, where they lost to Hull City.
Patterson has two years left on his contract. Competition on Wearside is fierce, with Melker Ellborg content as number two while Patterson wants regular football, and the valuation could be a hurdle for most Championship sides.
