Yann M'Vila joins Serie D Sanremese after Caen exit, Christian Karembeu part-owner | OneFootball

Yann M'Vila has joined Italian fourth-tier side Sanremese after leaving Caen at the end of his deal.

According to L'Équipe, the former France midfielder, 36, arrives as a free agent after two seasons and 48 matches for Caen.

Early discussions convinced him of the club’s ambition and passion, and he intends to bring experience, commitment and a hunger to win to shared targets.

It is his second spell in Italy, following 14 appearances for Inter Milan in 2014-2015. He won 22 caps for France, scoring once.

Sanremese has been taken over in part by Christian Karembeu, who holds 37.5 percent and serves as club president.

Based in San Remo, better known for its song festival and the Milan-San Remo cycling Monument than football, the club has been in Serie D for 10 years and has not played in Serie C for 40. In 2025-2026 it finished seventh in its group, short of the promotion places, with Oan Djorkaeff, a son of Youri, in the squad.
