Yannick Cahuzac confirmed as Lens head coach with no interim, Monaco next | OneFootball

Yannick Cahuzac was unveiled on Thursday as RC Lens head coach ahead of Friday's 20:45 visit to Monaco, who sit at the top of Ligue 1.

According to Le Progres, chief executive Benjamin Parrot said their trust is not time limited and there is no interim, adding that Cahuzac is the first-team coach.

Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca said it was the obvious choice, stressing Cahuzac's deep knowledge of the club.

Cahuzac was Olivier Pantaloni's assistant at Lorient last season, then joined Dino Toppmöller's staff this summer. He previously captained Lens between 2019 and 2022, before spending a season on Franck Haise's staff.

He said he is ready for his debut, with Lens on four points from four league games. He added that he knows the club's DNA and many players, and is working towards his coaching badges alongside his role.

Toppmöller left on Tuesday, three months after arriving, amid poor results and a disconnect between the existing staff and his incoming assistants. Parrot accepted it had not worked, and the club had considered parting with one of Toppmöller's assistants to bring the group closer together.
