Yates quip, Milenkovic boost and sharp drills inside Nottingham Forest’s international break training before Palace trip | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest trained through the international break, stepping up plans for next weekend’s trip to Crystal Palace. After a week off, non-internationals returned to the Nigel Doughty Academy.

According to Nottingham Post, a handful of media were allowed into Thursday’s session during a grassroots day, while goalkeepers Matz Sels, John Victor and Steven Benda trained separately.

Ten outfield players took part: Liam Delap, Igor Jesus, Arnaud Kalimuendo, James McAtee, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez, Luca Netz, Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo. With others away on international duty, Morgan Gibbs-White also received a late England call-up.

Milenkovic, back after a hamstring issue that kept him out against Aston Villa and Coventry City, trained with strapping below his left knee. Glasner said the defender should be available for Palace.

There was no sign of Nicolo Savona, who has not played since January after knee surgery. A return to competitive action could still be some way off.

The mood was upbeat, with sharp work and set-piece drills as McAtee, Netz and Dominguez rehearsed corners. Club legend John McGovern watched on. Yates joked about a teammate’s language and spent time with pupils from Kirkby Woodhouse Primary School.

Upgrades continue at the training ground under owner Evangelos Marinakis, including an extended canteen. Players use social spaces, darts and table tennis, with Sels apologising after a lively game. Work is under way on a swimming pool.
