It is sad news that has plunged Senegalese football into mourning.

Youssou Diouf dies after collapsing on a football pitch
In Senegal, forward Youssou Diouf passed away on Sunday, February 22, after collapsing following a second division match between AS Saloum and Amitié FC at the Stade Maniang Soumare in Thies.
The 16th matchday of the Senegalese League was overshadowed by tragedy. A young striker named Youssou Diouf suffered cardiac arrest during the match between his club, AS Saloum and Amitié FC, and lost his life. According to Wiwsport, the incident occurred just after the final whistle of a game that ended in a goalless draw (0-0).
Youssou Diouf was making his debut appearance for AS Saloum. Starting the game on the bench, he came on with about ten minutes left to play. Everything seemed normal. It was only at the final whistle that he suddenly felt unwell; despite receiving immediate medical attention, he tragically died on the spot.
This heartbreaking event recalls a similar tragedy from last season. Union Sportive de Ouakam (USO) lost their captain Fadiouf Ndiaye, who also collapsed mid-game due to a sudden illness.
