Yuri Alberto has taken a significant step towards a comeback, completing full training with Corinthians after a right thigh issue. The club said in a statement that the 25-year-old had finished his physical transition and worked with the squad without restrictions.

At CT Joaquim Grava he joined gym activation and the pitch warm-up with team-mates. The session included attack-versus-defence drills with numerical superiority for the forwards, followed by a 10-v-10 tactical exercise across varied game situations.

His recovery had suffered a setback when fibrosis ruptured in the posterior area of his right thigh, prolonging his lay-off beyond the original estimate. He consequently missed the matches that ended in Corinthians’ Libertadores quarter-final exit, with the initial plan pointing to a return after the FIFA window.

Yuri Alberto has not featured since 30 July, when he came on in the second half of a 0-0 draw with Athletico Paranaense at Neo Química Arena. He spent under 30 minutes on the pitch before feeling pain and being withdrawn, yet remains the club’s top scorer this season with eight goals.

The expectation is that he could be available to face Internacional on Wednesday 7 at 19:30 at Beira-Rio, in round 29 of the Brasileirão. Corinthians continue their FIFA-window preparations on Saturday 3 at CT Joaquim Grava, and Fernando Diniz’s side are 14th in the league on 32 points.
