Corinthians are not expected to have Yuri Alberto available against Chapecoense on Sunday, after a setback in his right hamstring recovery. There is no timeframe for his return to full training and his Libertadores quarter-final first leg is in doubt.

ge.globo reports that the striker developed fibrosis in the injured area during healing, causing a regression, and there is pessimism internally over his involvement this weekend.

A place in the squad to face Estudiantes on Wednesday is viewed as remote and depends on progress in the coming days. The same caution applies to Flamengo on 13 September.

Alberto was cleared last week and began a transition with the fitness staff. He had been accelerating his return from a grade 2 issue in the same thigh and, on 27 August, felt discomfort during a run, which ruled him out of the 30 August Santos derby.

He was introduced at half-time in the 0-0 draw with Athletico-PR on 30 July, then came off after about 30 minutes with a right-leg pull, leaving in tears.

The original prognosis was six to eight weeks, and he was roughly two weeks ahead of schedule when the pain resurfaced at the four-week mark. Since then he has worked indoors with the medical staff.

Without him, Fernando Diniz can use Memphis Depay, Kaio César or Pedro Raul, with Luiz Fernando, Jesse Lingard and Dieguinho also in contention. Alberto is still the club’s top scorer this season with eight in 33, two ahead of Gustavo Henrique.
