Sarah Zadrazil has been named Austria’s Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2025. It’s the second time the 32-year-old midfielder has won the award from the APA (Austria Presse Agentur) in eight editions, having also received the accolade in 2018. Zadrazil, who boasts 58 goals in 119 caps for Austria, has been a crucial part of both Bayern and her national team’s play thanks to her experience and consistency.
Bianca Rech, FC Bayern director of women's football: "Congratulations to Sarah Zadrazil on being named Footballer of the Year in Austria – we're delighted for her and very proud. Sarah has helped shape the development of the FCB Women in recent years and has played a key role in our sporting success over the past few years – crowned with the first ever double of cup and championship in 2025. Off the pitch, she's also a terrific role model and represents women's football for FC Bayern and for Austria in a professional and likeable manner. We hope she'll be able to return to the pitch as soon as possible and just as strong as ever."
It was Zadrazil's consistency and game intelligence in particular that helped Bayern to a historic first domestic double in 2024/25, winning the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and later also the Supercup. However, her year was cut short in September as she suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the Bundesliga game against Freiburg. She has since been working on her recovery and ended 2025 with some positive news as she extended her contract in Munich until 2027.
