Adonis Frías apologises for error as Santos progress in Sudamericana | OneFootball

On Wednesday, Adonis Frías issued a social media apology after his mistake in Santos' Copa Sudamericana win over Universidad Central de Venezuela. Santos won 4-2 on Tuesday night to reach the round of 16.

The Venezuelan side scored after 18 seconds, capitalising on the defender's error. Frías was replaced at half-time by Lucas Veríssimo, and Cuca said the change had been planned before kick-off and was not related to the mistake.

In his message, the centre-back apologised to supporters and team-mates for the first-play error and thanked the squad for overturning the result and securing qualification.

He pledged to keep training to improve and to prevent repeats, adding that the aim of winning the competition remains.

Santos will face Macará of Ecuador in August.
