Anas Laghrari has emerged as Florentino Pérez’s trusted banker at Real Madrid and ACS. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Moroccan financier now sits inside the president’s inner circle.

Born in 1984, he studied financial mathematics in France, joined Calyon, then moved to Madrid with Société Générale in 2009. Headed locally by friend Donato González, the bank was Pérez’s main lender before his presidency. His father partnered with Pérez in Moroccan construction projects.

Laghrari left Société Générale in 2013 to become a partner at Key Capital. He helped steady ACS after the failed Iberdrola bid and the property crisis, as the March family and the ‘Albertos’ distanced themselves from Pérez.

He has been involved in Madrid’s Providence and Sixth Street agreements, and in ACS’s purchase of Abertis. A co-founder of A22 Sports Managment, linked to Key Capital, he shaped the Super League’s financing, securing €4,000 million from JP Morgan and negotiating with signatory clubs. He also advised Joan Laporta and Barcelona.

The club has floated a new CEO to run a subsidiary for business operations, separate from the presidency and sporting side, handling investors, Bernabéu commercial activity and a model valued by Pérez at €10,000 million. Laghrari fits that brief and is bringing Sixth Street and Bernard Arnault to buy the 5% on offer. Some members view him as a risk and even a possible successor, while a revised ethics code has enabled deputy managing director Carlos Ocaña, a Telefónica vice-president representing the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales, to join.
