Antoine Kombouaré is set to take charge at Paris FC after Stéphane Gilli’s dismissal, aiming to keep the 15th-placed side in Ligue 1. According to L'Équipe, it will be his ninth Ligue 1 job, equalling Jean Fernandez’s record.
This will be his fifth in-season rescue. In 2019 he kept Dijon up via the play-offs after arriving mid-campaign with the club 18th, then departed soon after.
At Toulouse in 2019-20 he beat Lille 2-1 first up, then lost nine straight and exited the Coupe de France to Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Hilaire, 0-1. He was sacked after 83 days with TFC bottom on 13 points and 14 off the play-off place when the season stopped.
He revived Nantes in 2021, taking over a side 18th and winless in 14. Wins at Angers and PSG featured before four straight victories led to a play-off triumph over Toulouse on away goals. Nantes later won the Coupe de France under him, before his May 2023 departure.
Recalled in 2024 with Nantes 16th and eight games left, he started with a 2-1 win at Nice and added a 1-0 at Le Havre. Despite only two points in the run-in, Nantes finished 14th, and he stayed to secure another survival in 13th the following season.
