Mahdi Camara struck twice as Rennes beat Auxerre 3-0, with Auxerre well below par and Clément Akpa enduring a torrid half.

According to L'Équipe, Camara delivered a tireless display, his conviction in the final third proving decisive. Do Marcolino finished the match in his position.

He opened the scoring with a firm half-volley in the 20th minute after Mahamadou Nagida’s surge created the opening. Before the break, Bryan Okoh conceded a dangerous loss of possession on 39 minutes. Camara added a second in the 45th minute, and Nagida supplied the penultimate pass for the third, again on 45 minutes.

Valentin Rongier, stationed deepest, grew in influence as captain and eased Rennes’ build-up, though he was booked.

Akpa had 45 minutes to forget, the opener coming down his flank and further lapses evident on the third. He was replaced by Senaya at half-time.

For Auxerre, Bryan Okoh’s second start left too much room to opponents and he was missing for the third, although he improved after the interval. Naouirou Ahamada was largely absent in midfield, with few touches or recoveries, and he made way for Casimir in the 46th minute.
