Benfica and Porto left the Estádio da Luz after 22:00, with both clubs unhappy as referee João Pinheiro took time to finalise his match report following the Clássico.

According to Record, the delay stemmed from the need to complete the official document, which had to note several incidents during the game and in the aftermath.

The hold-up had initially been linked to a meeting between Pinheiro and Lucílio Baptista, the former referee who serves as the refereeing council’s appointed mentor for high-profile fixtures. However, that meeting did not slow the administrative process.

The report had to be concluded and then signed by both clubs’ delegates before procedures could be closed, which extended the teams’ time inside the stadium.

Once the paperwork was complete, departures were cleared and the teams left the Luz, the delay attributed solely to report completion rather than the meeting.
