Chelsea have recalled Mamadou Sarr from his loan spell at Strasbourg and sent Aaron Anselmino to the French club until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Sarr had become a regular in Ligue 1, making 22 appearances and captaining Strasbourg before being called back to west London. Signed by Chelsea last year and immediately loaned out, the Senegalese defender remains under contract until 2033 and will now spend the remainder of the season in the Premier League.

To cover his departure, Chelsea have loaned Anselmino to Strasbourg after recently ending the Argentine’s spell at Borussia Dortmund. With first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge, the 20-year-old will look to gain valuable minutes in France.

The move sees the two defenders effectively swap clubs within the BlueCo ownership group, which controls both Chelsea and Strasbourg.
