Mamadou Sarr’s (20) loan from Chelsea to RC Strasbourg Alsace has been cut short. The defender will now return to the former and compete for a place in the starting XI under a manager that he already knows well, Liam Rosenior.
Sarr joined Chelsea back in the summer and even trained with the first team prior to returning on loan to partner club Strasbourg. The Senegal international was a key part of Le Racing’s back line, at times wearing the armband this season.
However, his loan back to Strasbourg included a recall option, one that has now been triggered by Chelsea, who are struggling with injuries at the back. With Sarr returning to Stamford Bridge, Aarón Anselmino is expected to make the opposite move, having seen his loan at Borussia Dortmund cut short.
Chelsea are not expected to sign any further defensive reinforcements before the end of the window. Jérémy Jacquet is set to join Liverpool, having been strongly linked with the Blues, whilst Tylel Tati is expected to remain at FC Nantes.
