A narrow majority of Corinthians supporters favour keeping Fabrizio Angileri beyond this year, though opinion remains split. According to Meu Timao, 57.4% backed a new deal for 2027, with 42.6% against.
The Argentine joined in February 2025 after leaving Getafe, arriving on a free at Ramón Díaz’s request. He was recruited for left-back and the left of defence amid inconsistency from Hugo Farias and Matheus Bidu.
He soon became a starter and helped deliver the 2025 Paulista title. An April hamstring tendinitis then halted his run, Bidu reclaimed the role and minutes dwindled under Dorival Júnior.
In 2025 he played 42 times with two assists and also covered at left-sided centre-back. He was part of the Copa do Brasil winners. Renewal talks, opened in August by executive Fabinho Soldado, failed, so he entered 2026 out of contract.
With negotiations revived by Marcelo Paz, he re-signed until 31 December 2026. He has featured in only nine games this season and was not selected for the 2-0 Supercopa do Brasil win over Flamengo on 1 February.
Bidu is first choice at left-back and Farias is cover, while Angileri is the only left-footed centre-back. Several others, including André Ramalho, Hugo Farias, André Carrillo, Jesse Lingard, Zakaria Labyad and Vitinho, can already sign pre-contracts. Corinthians meet FC Cascavel in a 12 July friendly before hosting Remo on 23 July at Neo Química Arena.
