Dieguinho is expected to miss Corinthians’ trips to Red Bull Bragantino on 9 August and Rosario Central on 13 August, the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16, after a Brazil Under-20 call-up on Tuesday, according to Meu Timao.
The Under-20s have friendlies against Bolivia on 9 and 12 August at Granja Comary in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro. He could also miss earlier Corinthians fixtures because the CBF have not yet released the reporting schedule.
Corinthians face Athletico-PR next Thursday at 19:30 at Neo Química Arena. They then meet Internacional in the Copa do Brasil, with the first leg on Sunday 2 August at Beira Rio and the return on Thursday 6 at the Casa do Povo.
It is the first call-up for the 18-year-old, born in 2007, who trained with the senior Brazil team at CT Joaquim Grava in June last year. Paulo Victor’s Under-20 side are preparing for the South American Championship scheduled for January 2027.
An academy graduate from Parque São Jorge, he impressed at Under-17 and Under-20 level before joining the first team. He made his senior debut in April last year, a 2-1 Brasileirão win over Sport at Neo Química Arena, under interim coach Orlando Ribeiro.
Since then he has made 34 appearances, six from the start, with two goals and two assists. He has featured nine times under manager Fernando Diniz.
